A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure that repositions the breasts to create a perkier, more youthful bustline. Breast lift surgery is commonly performed as part of a combination of breast enhancement and body contouring procedures, including breast augmentation, breast reduction and mommy makeover.

Breast ptosis, or sagging, may occur as a result of pregnancy or aging, and naturally large breasts may sag as skin is stretched under the weight of the breast tissue. No matter what the cause of your breast ptosis, mastopexy can help.
During consultation, Dr. Weston will discuss your cosmetic goals and evaluate a variety of factors, including your medical history, overall health and skin characteristics, before recommending breast lift surgery.
General anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation is typically used during breast lift surgery. A variety of breast lift surgical techniques exist, but Dr. Weston will discuss her recommendations with you ahead of time and ensure your procedure is customized to achieve your unique breast lift results.
Incisions made during breast lift surgery depend on the amount of ptosis you need corrected.
Once incisions are made, excess skin and tissue are removed, and areolas and nipples are repositioned as needed. The entire breast lift procedure takes two to four hours or more, depending on the other procedures being performed simultaneously.
Recovering from breast lift surgery is not as intense as breast augmentation recovery, unless mastopexy has been combined with breast implants or other body contouring procedures.
You will be able to shower two days after surgery and return to work within one to two weeks. Exercise may be resumed in two to three weeks post-operatively, and you may begin full unrestricted activity at four weeks. Final breast lift results will be visible four to six months after surgery.
Surgical scars will fade over time, but keep your scars out of the sun and use recommended scar treatments, such as silicone sheets, to ensure your breast lift scars are minimal.
For optimal breast lift results, follow all post-operative instructions and keep your follow-up appointments with Dr. Weston.
