Background

I was born and raised in New York. I studied the harp as a youngster and then attended New York University, majoring in theater and music. I spent my junior year studying in London and upon my return to the States, decided to pursue a career using theater as a therapeutic modality for children. I changed majors and graduated with a BA in Biology in 1975. I graduated from Stanford Medical School in 1979 and remained at Stanford for an additional 6 years completing my residency in Plastic Surgery. I completed a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery with Daniel Marchac, M.D., in Paris, France.

From 1985-1990, I worked as a plastic surgeon with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Santa Teresa. In 1990, I moved to Palo Alto, joining one of my mentors in the private practice of plastic surgery. In 2001, I moved to my current office in Menlo Park, CA, establishing my practice as Jane Weston, MD.

I am married to Jan Horn, MD, a General Surgeon and ICU Specialist at San Francisco VA Hospital and Professor Emeritus of Surgery at UCSF. Our children are grown and we live in Emerald Hills with Dixie, our sweet mini-labradoodle.

In the News

As a spokesperson for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Weston has been extensively quoted in local and national print media regarding various aspects of plastic surgery.

In September 2003, Dr. Weston was profiled in USA TODAY in an article depicting the true life of a plastic surgeon. The article intended to show a contrast between plastic surgeons and the characters depicted in the FX drama Nip/Tuck. Click here to read the article.

Community Service

Before my children were born, I spent many years involved with Interplast both as a volunteer surgeon and in an administrative capacity. I served on the board of directors and was an associate director of Interplast, coordinating efforts in Brazil during my final years with the organization.

I have also been involved with the leadership of ASPS. I co-founded the Women Plastic Surgeons Committee and served as the committee’s first chair for several years. I have chaired the Ethics Committee and the Judicial Council as well as the Marketing Committee and I have been a member of the board of directors of the ASPS. I am also involved with the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, having served on the Board of Directors of the society and as chair of the Public Education Committee.

I have done non-profit work as a member of the board of directors of a local theater group and have also been part of Leadership Palo Alto, a program that develops effective leadership on a community level.

I have served on the board of governors of the Stanford Medical Alumni Association and am on the adjunct clinical faculty of the Division of Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery at Stanford Medical School.

In support of our patients, our office staff participated in the Susan G Komen Walk for the Cure in San Francisco
