  • Chin and neck
  • Waistline
  • Braline and back
  • Upper arms
  • Buttocks
  • Hips
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Knees and ankles

During consultation, Dr. Weston will review your medical history and assess your health and anatomy before recommending liposuction or any other body contouring procedure.

What to expect during liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which localized deposits of fat are removed to reshape one or more areas of the body. There are multiple techniques available for our patients. Through a tiny incision, a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is pushed and pulled through the fat layer, destroying the fat cells and suctioning them out. Fluid is lost along with the fat, and it’s very important that it is replaced during the surgery to prevent shock. For this reason, Dr. Jane Weston will carefully monitor her patients and provide IV during and immediately after surgery.

The Liposuction procedure can be quick, or may take an hour or two, depending on the body area, amount of fat that needs to be removed and patient’s body type.

Liposuction recovery

It is best not to rush your recovery and give yourself one to two weeks to recuperate after liposuction. Most patients can return to work and normal daily activities within one week, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for four to six weeks. If you have had lipo on multiple body areas or had a large amount of fat removed, your downtime and recovery time may be longer.

You may need to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling for a few weeks after surgery, however swelling will not completely resolve for at least a few months. Bruising should be mostly gone within a few weeks.

Within four to six months, you should be able to judge your final liposuction results. Let Dr. Weston know if you experience any hardness, lumps or bumps, as she may recommend lymphatic drainage or other massage techniques to improve your results.

To ensure the best possible result is achieved, follow all post-operative care instructions and keep your follow-up appointments with Dr. Weston.
